About Janell
My passion for helping others began at an early age. As a child, I attended a blended summer camp alongside children who were hearing impaired. That unforgettable experience profoundly shaped my perspective on life, learning, and inclusion. It sparked a lifelong commitment to advocacy, empowerment, and service.
This early foundation continues to influence my work today as I support individuals and families from diverse backgrounds and with varied needs.

My Specialties
I provide counseling services to children, adolescents, emerging adults, and adults. I also work closely with individuals with disabilities and families navigating life transitions.
My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, emotional regulation, self-esteem, and family communication. I specialize in play therapy for children who experience anxiousness, anger, or difficulty expressing emotions.
My therapeutic approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and family-centered. I believe meaningful growth happens when individuals feel supported, understood, and empowered within their relationships and environments.
My Experience
My professional journey has included serving in a variety of clinical and leadership roles, including Youth Counselor, Program Director, Clinical Coordinator, Clinical Supervisor, Employment Specialist, and Work Incentive Specialist Advocate. These experiences allowed me to work across multiple regions and systems, supporting children, families, and unemployed individuals.
This path ultimately led to the founding of Alive Counseling, where I am able to consolidate my clinical expertise, advocacy work, and passion for holistic care into one integrated practice.
